I am using the Oly 4040 and the Tetra Wetmate system. They don't make a red filter for the wetmate. has anyone tried adjusting the whitebalance to put the red back in for blue water shots? The camera store suggested this but they are not underwater photographers/

White Balance

Doesn't the 4040 have a manual white balance setting? So you could take down a white card, or point it at anything you know to be neutral gray/white, at depth, at set the white balance.
I think you'll find that this is way too much compensation, (like doing auto levels in photoshop), it makes the images look entirely not underwater.
With my G2, I find that using auto WB, and then doing an occasional bit of adjustment in photoshop, works fine. One could argue that using a fixed WB, like daylight, would give more consistent results... Who knows?
Play around, and see what you get.

yes, this is what i was thinking. You can manually adjust the WB in the 4040. However, unfortunatley, I won't be diving in bluewater for a while. I guess I could try it here in the green water of the pacific northwest.
thanks
