First UW Pics

  1. I thought I'd post a few pictures on here for review. Though I've been a land photographer for a while, this is my first foray into underwater photography and my first trip with my D70s/Ikelite housing. Please feel free to post constructive criticism, and I will be glad to share more later. The rest of the pictures can be found at:

FYI: My macro lens was on the fritz, so I was only able to shoot wide angle

  2. Even though this was your first attempt at UW photography it's obvious that you know a little bit about photography in general. Very nice exposures, good lighting technique, you could probably work on compsition a lttle bit but otherwise these would be good for someone with a few trips under their belt.

  3. I kind of think the opposite - except for the last one the compositions are ok the exposures on some are off. The 1st one is blown out in the corner and the the bottom could be lit more even. Try using the shadow/highlight feature to fix it up. The shark is good, sharp, exposed well on a diagnal. The bubbles from the other divers give it away as a shark dive and distract the picture a little. Strobe position is a little off on the Lion fish leaving the top underexposed, I would crop the left side more. I like the black and white shot a lot, I would try to get more black and more white though, play with the contrast and brightness a little. The last shot is a good action shot for non divers but I never usually , like subjects facing the other way unless they really work.

Way above average stuff a 1st timer though - great job.
