Segmented Worm? From southeast Florida

Poor little feather duster.....
It's a sabellid polychaete, family Sabellidae, genus Bispira, and it's lost it's crown. Could be a crab or a fish ate it, or the worm itself severed the connection to the crown which they will do in times of stress. Normally they don't come out of their tubes unless they're attacked or stressed. The attachment area doesn't look torn so probably the worm deliberately tossed the crown. When you look at the end you're seeing the collar which surrounds the crown and the external mouth parts in the center. -
Wow - I never would have guessed that's what it was...... Thanks very much for the ID! Now I too feel sad for it

Thanks for the ID, Leslie.
