I am using the subal 20D housing/canon 10-22 mm lens with the dome port and 50 mm extension ring for wide angle with variable results. I am wondering if anyone is using a diopter with this combo, or if others have had this problem.
Thanks!

variable results
what do you mean by "variable results" ?
I am seeing a lot of pictures out of focus, not just at the edges. My previous wide angle was nikonos with 15mm lens and I know these will not be the same. Macro is great, but the wideangle seems far less crisp at best, and very mushy at worst.
Thanks.

I am also using the 20D with 10-22 mm in a Subal housing with the 8" dome port and 2" extension ring. I have not had any trouble with focus or softness. I am not using a diopter. Autofocus is fast and effective. Photos are sharp, right out to the corners. The following photos are full frame at 10 mm with auto focus:

So, I am not having your problem. What focus mode are you using? Which focus points? Lens switch is in AF? Not focusing on crap in the water? Sufficient light to achieve focus? Fast enough shutter speed? I am grasping at straws here ...
John-
Your pictures are great. I am not getting shots like this.
I always shoot AF. I put the focus for the center and then will use the star lock button to compose. I usually shoot at 1/125. It may well be that I am focusing on water particles and not my subject.
I have not really used this lens combo on land and am going to see if there is something about the lens, but I think it's the photographer, not the equipment.
Thanks for your thoughts. the subal chart doesn't indicate a diopter, just was thinking maybe some were using one.
I have Nikon, with the 12-24 and domeport a diopter is recommended
