Does anyone have the slightest notion when Aquatica of Quebec will release its enlarged viewfinders, reminiscent of Subal and Seacam's? While I have had little problem with either the D2x housing or the D200, it would still be nice to get those housings a bit further from my face (since I was smacked with one -- the big one -- while photographing harbor seals this last week) . . .
Also, since I have an earlier release (with a smaller opening for supplemental viewfinder) of their AD2x housing, how will installation of the new viewer be accomplished? Will I be able to swap the viewfinder out between housings or will I be required to purchase two and sell that troublesome other kidney?
Any answer on this subject would be welcomed . . .

Hi:
I talked to Blake a few months ago about an enlarged viewfinder for the AD2x housing.
He said he was working closely with a few optical engineers on a new viewfinder. At that time he envisioned a viewfinder that was factory installed on the housing back. The idea I got from him was, owners of existing housings would be able to exchange their existing housing backs for one with a viewfinder installed. I don’t know if this is still the plan. Personally, I’d like to keep my existing back and upgrade to the new viewfinder installed back, if possible.
He suggested a target date for the release of the new viewfinder/back would be June of this year, so we should be hearing something about the new viewfinder shortly.
I spoke with Blake on this subject just last week. They have some prototypes but are still fine tuning and are not to the release stage just yet.
The plan is for the finder to be changable by the user with out the need to return to the factory (based on latest & future housing production for the D200 at least - I assume that the same will be true for latest/future production for the D2x housing as well).
My understanding is that it may not be compatible with some previous/current housings depending on the size of the finder opening on the back,
Keep up the good work Blake - can't wait to see one!!
