  1. looking for 1st digicam ,anyone using fuji f30 out there.also looking for appropriate strobe and curious whether one more atmosphere than rated for housing is pushing it. bill

  2. The F30 is a fine camera. DPreview just gave it their highly recommended rating. The housing will probably keep the camera dry at 1 atmosphere below depth, but you might not be able to use the controls.

Be aware that the F30 has Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority, but it does not have full manual control. This might get tricky if you want to use it with a strobe. It might leave you using exposure compensation more often. However, the low-light capabilities make it an excellent camera to use the Magic Filters (see the other thread under Consumer Digicams/Housings).

  3. Congrats for the new camera!!!

Although I've other SLR's, I also got a new F30 too, after checking the noise of F30 with other "famous branded" cameras (shot at tele, magnified the image to see the quality) I am sure that the result from f30 is one of the best.

In short, it's more than the ISO 3200, it's the noise reduction capability of f30 from high to low ISO's. Even without both aperature and shutter control at the same time, those who are familar with photography and the behavior of this camera should have no problem on delivering top quality pictures.

Let's have some examples in order to see what I meant:

... made by a funny guy (not me) who mounted his f30 to a Swarovski telescope with an adaptor:

Back to your question, Inon seems to offer some good solutions e.g. the Z240, but there are a lot of users who can take good photo's with menual strobes (without TTL measure), menual light is equally good for them. Here's some Inon strobes:

Finally, the housing WP-FXF30 can go 40m in depth (spec), but some, as usual, has used it at around 50m without any problem.

p.s. if you're interested in Macro/Wide Angle wet lens, Inon also made them for f30.
