I'm looking at Inon Z240 strobes for my new D-200 set up and see that they are available with wired or fiber optic options. As a long time wired Ike strobe user, what are the advantages/disadvantages of fiber optic over wired cables, if any???
I'll be starting from scratch, so might as well do it right the first time!
Thanks in advance.
I suspect the main reason strobes have fibre optic is because you can use fibre optic on cheep (canon, nikon, olympus, sony) P&S housings which do not have bulkheads for a wired connection.
Yes, what Will said, and No or Poor TTL with fiber optic and P&S cameras. The fiber optic option is really meant to give cameras with no hard wire option a second chance at life and still be able to use a strobe.
Well one small advantage of a fiber optic cable is that you can't flood a fiber optic cable/strobe/housing since all the connections are external.
