RAW Prob II

  1. So I downloaded the 3.4 plugin so now photos open in RAW. BUT the "film strip/thumbnails" are still just showing the NEF icon. I tried moving the 3.4 plugin to the Adobe Bridge Plug in folder but it did no good.

How to I view the RAW Thumbnails?

    Thanks

  2. I don't know if this will fix your problem, but if you have not already you may want to try installing Microsoft RAW viewer. It allows Windows the native ability to view RAW images as it does JPG and other common picture formats.

  3. Assuming you're using Windows XP Service Pack 2, you can download the NEF thumbnailer and viewer from Microsoft's website right here:

    RAW Thumbnailer

It's a free update to XP SP2. Just download and run it.

  4. Sounds like Martin is using CS11.

Try purging the cache - should update evreything on reload

    For Camera Raw 3.4:

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop CS2, Adobe Creative Suite 2, or Photoshop Elements 3.0 or 4.0.

To install with Adobe Creative Suite 2 or Photoshop CS2:

    1. Exit Photoshop CS2.

    2. Open the Finder.

    3. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)

    Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats

    4. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.

    5. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 3.

    6. Launch Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Bridge.

NOTE: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, follow these steps:

    1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in Step 5 above.

    2. Start Adobe Bridge.

    3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.

Important: Purging the Central Cache deletes cached thumbnail information for all folders. It also deletes labels, ratings, and rotation settings for read-only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support.
