Komodo dive sites

  1. I am planning trip to Indonesia - Komodo. I will spend 11 days on Komodo /4 days daily trips from Labuan Bajo + 7 days liveaboard/.

I would apreciate advice with choosing the best dive sites. I know there is a lot to see in Komodo/Rinca region, but we still need to make a selection.

What are the not to be missed dive spots. Any opinion apreciated. I will shoot both wide angle and macro, but I prefer wide angle.

    thank you

  2. Heading up there at the end of August for a few weeks so also am keen to hear what others have to say.

I hear the water temp varies dramaticaly from North to South. Is it cold enough for a semi-dry ?

  3. Well Batu Balong, Tatawan Kechil (Besar isn't bad either) and GPS point are known for the pelagics. One boat particularly pretends BB and TK don't exist because of the inherit dangers of high current dives. Choose your boat well.

Day trips from Labuhan Bajo are not the smartest thing to do. Takes forever to get there and only a few times a month can they get the current at the right time on arrival. That may have changed since I did it years ago once. I'd rather try my luck for molas from Bali for 4 days.

Temps range from 14(the coldest I ever saw in the South near Moyo) to 25 °C. A more common range of 18-24°C is more likely.
