Using /canon d20 or digital rebel what would the general lens preferences be for wideangle use.
Nikon users have the 10.5 mm prime for digital use.
18-22 usm ,
sigma 15mm
canon 20mm prime or else.

canon 10-22 or Sigma 10-20 ??? maybe
I use a Tokina 12-24 with my 20D behind a Subal SWC dome port, anything wider than this wouldn't have worked very well at the wide end with this port. If I had a larger radius dome port like the DP-FE I would probably have gone with the Canon 10-22.
I also use the Canon 10-22mm with my digital Rebel
I use the Sigma 15mm fe.
Unfortunately Canon does not have a EFs Fisheye....Yet So the widest you can get on a canon crop body is the 10-22, or if you want a prime the 15 fisheye(which is not as wide as the 10-22).
First choice: Canon 10-22mm
Second choice: Sigma 15mm FE
The Sigma 15mm FE would get my vote.
I use the Canon 10-22mm and have been happy with it. Given the choice I'd get the same again.
The 10-22mm is a very good lens for the EF-S compatible bodies. What you do have to ask yourselves though is "how long before a I crack like the weak human I am and go full frame?". Afterall there's a 5D out there with your name on it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life. At which point that 17-40mm is going to start looking real good.
I've gone full frame and I have to admit I'm glad I didn't get the 10-22mm though I was sorely tempted. I now only use my 20D if I want a bit of extra reach on my telephoto zoom. At the moment I've got my Sigma 15mm FE that I used to tuse with my D60. Of course that's now even better on the 5D. I'm seriously looking at getting the 17-40mm and zoom gear. Luckily it'll fit in my big dome, though I'll have to get some that "Frinktex" black flocking paper...

What about Sigma 8mmFE ? Today I am using the Sigma 15mm FE but of course losing lot os chances to get wider pics. Any experiece using 8mm FE ?
The Sigma 8mm is not a typical fisheye like the 15mm; it is a circular fisheye, meaning that it crops the top and bottom 1/3 of the photo, so you will have black bands at the top and bottom of your pictures.
Right now, there are no true fisheye options for Canon 1.6x sensor users. The only fisheye available for non 35mm sensors is the Nikon 10.5mm, but Tokina is expected to produce a 10-15 (I think) fisheye zoom lens.
Nice hear from you Luiz, how are you doing ?. Well, let me teel what I am thiking over here ok ?. I know that Canon does not have a true FE for croped sensors. This almost convinced me to betrait Canonian family, but blood is stronger(lol).
I have heard that some guys here in Brazil and also em Paris are working with 8mm assembled in Russia, the following equation is in use:
8mm (360 degrees) + croped sensor + 1,4TC = 174 degrees wich is almost FE range. I saw some pics in PBASE just having 8mm in croped sensor, the result is almost there cause there is a tiny vignete effetc in borders.
Knowing that I was wondering if someone have tried before (underwater), I still looking day by day in teh news waiting for the promissed 10-17mm from tokina (already in market for Pentax), but it seems to be like a dream, Tokina does not confirm the information, so....
