Pictures from Sharm el Sheikh

  1. Hi,

I just came back from one week of diving in Sharm el Sheikh, south Sinai. Locations like Ras Mohammed and the Strait of Tiran are famous the world over, and we were not disappointed - the diving was fantastic.

I used an old Olympus C-3000 in PT-010 housing. A also had a small Epoque ES-150DS slave strobe, mounted on a home-made arm.

We also did two dives on the Thistlegorm - a WWII cargo ship loaded with motorcycles, tanks, bombs and other supplies.

PS. It's in Swedish... I might put a translated page there soon, if someone is interested.

  2. Hi Erik,

You must be pleased with those shots... Your exposures in the blue water are particularly good.

Thanks also for the Viking lessons!!!

  3. Thanks for these kind comments, some critisism is welcome too, though... Well, now you know some Swedish - if you ever go here you'll be able to say 'butterflyfish' and 'moray'...

  4. You have there realy good shots!

Ras Mohamed & Shar'm is my favorite dive place :)

  5. Hi alto, here comes the picture of the strobe arm you requested (coultn't attach to personal message). As I said, it is very simple, just two cut pieces of sheet metal, see attached picture. I put the balance weight "above" the arm when mounting it on the housing.

It did some photoshop editing on many of the pictures, mostly adjusting exposure (some shots were a bit underexposed), and in some cases a small white balance adjustment. I also removed some backscatter on a couple of shots... And I did crop many of them. Some are straight out of the camera, though. After scaling them to 640 x 480 I did some sharpening using the "unsharp mask".

    /Erik
