Fantasea housing for SB-800

  1. Hi all,

As anyone tryed the Fantasea housing for the Nikon SB-800 strobe?

It looks good since you can see the strobe trought (and hoppefully the Auto/Slave sensor can see to the outside world...).

I'm thinking about using it as a completly autonome unit in slave or auto mode.

I'm wondering if the housing center push button can control all the functions of the units keepad.

    Anyone as this housing?

    All the best,

    Rui Guerra

  2. Hi Colin,

It's interesting to see the fiber optic you use. Can I ask where did you buy it (I don't know any place here in Portugal that sell those fiber optic).

Another question regarding the Fantasea housing: the three push botton on the back are enought to fully control the SB-800? Mainly the one in the center?

  3. Hi Rui

I managed to find some 0.75mm optical cable from a swimming pool lighting company. Fantasea actually sell a Universal Fiber Optic Cable for Cool Flash and more (Cat # 6300). At 2m in length this spiral cable is perhaps a little short.

Perhaps someone can suggest a source for fiber optic cable?? A quick search on Google shows http://www.fiberopticproducts.com as a possiblity. End glow single, or multi-strand is what I would use. Typically 0.75mm width.

The controls on the back of the Fantasea housing cover all the controls necessary for the SB800.

    Cheers,

    Colin
