Subal dome port shade collar

9 posts
  1. The plastic shade/ collar on my Subal dome port broke mysteriously on a boat last week. I obtained a replacement, but it is horribly tight, and I can't get it on. I need it for a trip next week, so don't have time to send it in. Any suggestions?

  2. Try warming it up with a hairdryer before pushing it on !

I have seen a bunch of Subals with broken lenses shades recently, I recall hearing that the reason had been put down to a change in materials.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

  3. I have knocked mine off a couple of times (not underwater) but it has always pushed back on!

  4. Run it under hot water-

  6. Thank you all. I will try it.

  7. Is there not a little retaining grub-screw? I naturally broke mine (in April) and, surprise surprise, I am using a borrowed one while I wait for a new one to arrive! I had to saw off the grub-screw (electrolysis between steel and aluminium).

Pity I've progressed to a different camera and housing since then.
