Nikon D200 Tripod Mount Thread Size?

  1. Anyone know what thread size the built-in tripod mount on the D200 is?

    Thanks!

  2. Industry standard is 1/4"-20.

Unless something big has changed and nobody told me (wouldn't be the first time).

    All the best, Jmaes

  3. Thanks James!

  4. Its a 1/4" Whitworth thread (designed before WWI in England by the now long defunct Whitworth company). In the USA its a relatively easy thread to get hold of but is no longer so easy in Britain as we now mostly use metric bolts. I mention this because some housings use 1/4" Whitworth tripod threads to fit attachments - mostly US - whilst some use 3/8" Whit (close enough to 3/8" UNC) and many European housings use 6mm metric! US companies like RRS, Wimberley and Kirk can supply 1/4" 20 bolts for anyone who is looking for them (Alloy) but I've yet to find a good supplier of A4 stainless ones.
