Canon 10-22 in Ike 6" dome?

3 posts
  1. I currently have a Canon Rebel XT (1.6 crop camera) and the Ikelite housing with 17-40 lens and 6" dome. I'll be taking a trip in a few months where I'm pretty sure I'll want to go even wider. I see that Ike recommends their newer 8" inch dome with the 10-22 lens, but that it will work with the 6" dome I have already. Has anyone tried the 10-22 lens in the 6" dome? Is the image quality good or is it bad enough not to even try?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

  2. The 6" dome and 10-22mm works, however it does suffer from edge blurriness at f/10 or wider @ 10mm.

To address this I've just bought the 8" dome, but have not yet had the chance to use it. All reports suggest that the blurry edge problem don't exist with it.

Thanks for the input. When you say blurry edges, about how far from the edges is it not acceptable? And does it help much to nudge to focal length up a little, say to 12 mm?

    Thanks again.
