Diving in Fiji With The Magic Filter

  1. I'm on the way back from diving with Kai Viti Divers in Fiji. Thanks to Eric and James for first posting their photos in 2004. Otherwise I might not have heard of them. They run a good operation.

About the Magic Filter. I'm really impressed. I hope to put up a user review soon.

My setup consisted of an Olympus SP-310, PT-030, Sea & Sea 16mm lens (using 46-58mm step up ring). It was quite easy to use ISO 100, aperture priority (f4.5 or f5, then using exposure compensation). I shot everything in RAW, and have done little editing yet.

  2. The magic filters can really do wonders in ambient light, is this the new "auto-magic"?

  3. Hi Luiz,

It's the original filter. Even though I shot RAW, I haven't had to do much adjustment with WB. I probably wouldn't use the auto filter since it takes out 1 more stop of light. I used mostly ISO 100, but did use ISO 200 at some times. If I needed to use 400 with the digicam, things would be noisy.

FYI I ran into Victor (VAZ- not sure of his exact Wetpixel name). He uses a D2X in an Aquatica housing. What a beautiful beast. When my Sea & Sea strobe cord went, he lent me one of his new Inons.
