A day in Grand Cayman

  1. So as per normal (even if it has been a while) myself and Mr Mustard did some classic shore diving in Grand Cayman .. which is always perfect for some Macro.

Now as it has been a while for me I shot similar stuff to that I have always done. I had a few problem with my housing being broken (sticky trigger button and also left my camera in manual focus for the first dive) but I did get some good results and I thought I would share as I haven't posted any pics in absolutely ages really.

For enjoyment .. or whatever you chose to do with them !

  2. That first shot is a winner.

  3. Some serious colour; stunning!

  4. Those are yellow-belly hybrid hamlets (with a bit of shy or butter hamlet for the nose spot).

    Good stuff.

  5. Hey, it's Sir or Dr Mustard to you.

Nice stuff... I see you no longer use auto-level. ;):P

  6. Good series

  7. I am from the Hybrid Hamlet Anti-Defamation League and we take exception to your offensive characterization of those within our community as "yellow-bellied".

    Great photos by the way!

  8. Good stuff Giles - that secretary blenny looks familiar!

    Cheers

  9. One of the great things about being in Cayman is having a first class underwater photography store right on site. Because my Subtronic strobe broke on my last trip - I am here in Cayman using my backup - but in my haste I left the thread from the middle of my ultralight ball sticking out of my broken strobe - so I didn't have proper way to mount my replacement:

Basically the thread sticking out the bottom of the one second from the left was stuck in the strobe, so the ultralight ball looked like the one first on the left:

Anyway this was easily fixed by a quick trip to Cathy Church's shop yesterday. And in fact it was probably cheaper than buy the part at home! And on my arrival at the shop it was packed full of photographers and Wetpixel members. Although sadly I didn't have time to stop.

  10. Nice stuff... I see you no longer use auto-level.
Well I assume you are talking about the SA photos .. unfortunately I rush processed those in my day in the UK on my dads comuter who ... suffice to say ... does not have the required tools I like to use .. but i did them to be able to back up some jpgs as well as raw for the journey back to cayman .. thank god i did .. as you may remember I had a catastrophic hard drive failure that with luck is being fixed right now ... anyways .. if i hadn't done those quick jpegs .. no one would believe I had been there at all !

Oh but Drew .. you are somewhat Wong .. I did use auto exposure in ACDSee for those shots .. just for web viewing.

  11. It was funny that day because the 5 people who walked in after me I knew!
