Buying Strovbes for Canon S40

2 posts
  1. Hi,

I want to buy 2 DS-125 for use with my Canon S40 (I will upgrade to D60 or the "new" Camera later this year or next year.)

    Now I have some Questions:

Can I attach both Strobes to a 4100.5 TTL-Sensor or do I need two?

    Which arms should i use?

Where do I get a tray for my housing (Original Canon WP-DC 300)

    Bye and thaks in advance,

    Simon

I believe you will need two.

You have many options there. I personaly prefer the Ultra Light Control System ( http://www.ulcs.com ) ball and clamp arms. Ikelite ( http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/arms.html ) do a similar arm and you might be able to get an arm package ( see http://www.bhphotovideo.com ) with the DS125. Some people swear by the 'Loc line' arms - see Light and Motion Infinity Arms at http://www.uwimaging.com/products/photo_in...to_infinity.htm and Fisheye at http://www.underwaterdigital.net/fisheye%20tray.htm. You'll need to check and see if they have adapters to attach the strobe to the arm.

You will also need to consider how you're mounting the 4100.5 sensor - the aiming of the sensor is very important in TTL mode.

Where do I get a tray for my housing (Original Canon WP-DC 300)

It looks like the WP-CD 300 uses a standard thread mount so trays shouldn't be a problem. I opted for the Sea and Sea Multi Stay W set ( http://www.seaandsea.com ) because of the dual angled arm adapters and the fact that it has a back brace that prevents the housing from spinning. All the above arm manufacturers should have a tray to fit the arm and housing. Or you can mix and match like I did - Terry at ULCS was excellent and made sure the handle fitted my S&S tray before shipping.
