I've been meaning to post more about using the Canon 60mm EFS macro lens when used with the Canon 12mm Extension tube (MkII only). Here is an image of a Devonshire Cup Coral taken at slightly greater than 1:1 to show the quality available from this lens/extension. Believe me it is extremely sharp and would easily priont at 20"x16" and probably greater. As a lower visibilty lens I can thoroughly recommend it (and in good vis too!). It has to be used with the MkII Extender according to Canon and as I've posted before has a MAXIMUM focus of about 40cm (lobster size). The decreased working distance compared to the 100 is useful in more turbid conditions but still allows viable lighting - I used a single Seaflash 200 on this shot.![]()

Very nice shot.
More proof that EFs 60mm+12mm works but for me a short macro is mostly a medium to large fish lens with the option of 1:1 if when stumble across that really cool shrimp.
I'd really like a 50mm'ish macro with USM. (I have vowed to never buy another non-USM lens) But the lack of infinity(no bigger than a lobster) is a deal breaker for me. Now if maxum subject size was around 3ft, I would be perfectly happy.
