Visayas, Philippines Aug/Sept 2006

  1. Thought I'd post some pics from a 2 week trip I made through the Visaya region of the Philippines in late Aug/ early Sept. Spent the initial part of the trip with Mike Veitch who had escaped manta-infested Yap to hold a mini photo workshop in Anilao and Puerto Galera, Philippines for some local scubaboard members. Afterwards, I traveled through Bohol (Balicasag Island), Dumaguete, Apo Island, and Malapascua Island to get a taste of the diving offered in the Visaya region. Trip gave me a lot of time to absorb all that was taught by Mike V and get familiar with my new DSLR setup. Overall, the bulk of the photos are sitting on the cutting floor, but a few of them came out as keepers. I highly recommend the diving in the Cebu/ Visaya region. Great mix of macro, wide angle, big stuff, coral, drop offs, wall, etc. Great schooling barracudas and jacks on Balicasag Island and Apo Island, interesting little critters at Dumaguete, mating mandarin fish, mantas, and thresher sharks! in Malapascua.

    Anyways, enjoy.

I should thank Yuzo for being so patient answering all my emails and finally piecing together my kit. And thanks also to all the helpful wetpixel members who gave out great advice. Can't wait for my next dive trip. In the meantime, I just need buy some talent... :)

  6. Good selection of images.

I likes most the ones from Malapaqua, brings me back to the great time we had there at Exotic Island.

haha... that's the truth... actually there were no slide shows, powerpoint presentation on photoshop, or one on one sessions underwater with Mike V. We just sat around a bar doing tequila and b-52 shooters and Mike would lift his head from his drink and just occaisionally say "that sucks" or nod in approval whenever we showed him our photos for the day...

  8. Great shots, the mandarines verry nice.

For me this is a nice warm-up, cause I am heading over there tomorrow.

  9. Wonderful shots Pak, they look even better the second time around .

Oh and don't worry you've got plenty of talent, no need to buy it :):P

  10. Duikkees, enjoy your trip!

Hey Jam... LOL... not quite... but I do have the most obnoxious watermark... gotta work on that... :)
