Nikon is expected to announce a the D60 in Nov. for Christmas no specifics yet but should be a D80 D200 guts with less features and will replace the d50. Expected price is $599.00. The used Nikon market is really going to be big and cheap by 2007.

Hey, beat the christmas rush by buying my Canon D60 for even less than that!
Available right now...Enjoy,

Photobeat..
where did you get this info?
Is it just me or is NIkon just now starting to catch on to the Canon thing of bringing out new cameras every 3 months?!?!
Seems like they would lose a lot of their market on the D80 by bringing out this camera so soon...
hmmm

I picked up a D200 and started reading Ken Rockwell's write up on it. On his site he has a latest news section and he mentioned it.

With no more film bodies in production (other than f-5 or 6?) it makes sense that that they will keep cranking out this stuff. With the technology changes they can stay busier than ever while we get poorer and poorer.

Hehehe, I don't trust Ken Rockwell too much. Anyways, I think it would be very unusual for Nikon to replace the D50 in less than 2 years (it was introduced in April/05), they usually take 3-4 years to replace dSLRs.

He's not that bad
- here is another link about the D60http://stock-photo.blogspot.com/2006/09/ni...kina-feeds.html

I was at the Photokina yesterday. Nothing about a d60. I agree with Luiz. Nikon is normally not that fast with replacing a model.

I'd be surprised.. And I don't think Rockwell has a clue here.
Maybe Nikon has already upgraded the D50 without telling anyone. At least, the prices have been steadily going up, even as the Canon XT's price has dropped.

Rockwell had been talking about the D200 coming soon for more than a year before it came. I wouldn't place too much creedence in his 'predictions'. I admire his skill in attracting hits though. Who said being controversial doesn't attract a readership - even if those readers completely disagree with you.
