Canon D60 -- it works!

  1. Hi guys. The Canon D60 rocks underwater (with UK Germany's Canon D30 housing)! White balance has been improved, and the extra resolution makes for stunning output.

I don't have anything jaw-dropping to show yet, but here's a sample image. It was taken with two Ikelite DS125 strobes and a Sigma 14mm lens at 1/80 F9 ISO100. For those of you who want to see the raw file, you can download the 3.0MB original file here. :)

Here's a crop from the original file:

More photos at http://echeng.com/travel/kona2002 . Anything underwater on or after April 3rd was taken with the D60.

  2. Nice photos, Several questions. Have you had any problems with your D125s. I read elsewhere where they found problems with a few of them. Did you find the 14 mm soft in the corners? Have you tried the cannon equivlent of the 17 to 35? What is the radius of your dome port? Thanks, jelosly yours

  3. Regarding the ds125 question -

I wouldn't worry about problems with the ds-125. If you do have a problem, Ikelite will jump through hoops to take care of you. It is new enough, (and the volume of any underwater equipment is low enough), that there are likely to be a few units that statistically sneak past QC without showing problems.

I guarantee you'll be utterly amazed at the service, should you in fact have any trouble with any ike equipment.

I've been using their stuff for near on 10 years, and they are, beyond doubt, the best service of any company I've ever dealt with, in any area!

  4. Wow - very cool. And so kona...

  5. I agree with you on the Ikelite service. I've delt with them for over 15 years. I was just wondering if I should individually test each of my 125s.:)
