HDV camcorders and housings news soon

4 posts
  1. Next month, I'll be joining Eric at DEMA to report on the new video housings and gadgets from DEMA. After that, I'll rush back to LA for DV Expo. I'll be trying out the new Canon XH-A/G1, HVR-V1U, FX7 and other cameras. Hopefully I'll have test clips from all the cameras.

With no new camera announcements expected til next year, the new cameras all look promising as the video world moves toward HD resolution. Stay tuned!

    Dru,

Can you confirm for me id the Pana P2 Camera is 4.4.4 HD when it's recording direct to the cards.

    Thanks in advance

AFAIK, P2 records only 4:2:2 DVC Pro HD. I believe you are thinking about the DVX100 which when used with a product called Andromeda from reel-stream, allows 4:4:4 pics up to 1540x990 (near HD) resolution. I've only seen demos of the thing since tethered shooting isn't my thing.

The new Canon XHG1 and XLH1 have HDSDI jacks for 4:4:4 uncompressed RGB color space and 4:2:2 YUV.

  4. I will be going to DEMA also, Oceanic is supposed to be introducing a revolutionary new closed circuit rebreather, and considering how slick their Phibian was 20 years ago, this ought to be interesting.

I am also going to see what is new in the HiDef arena.
