  2. Hey, fellow wetpixelians. I've decided to go on this trip. It is a 6-day trip from Sept 1-6 (as opposed to the normal 5-day trip). That means you get four full days of cage time, as opposed to three.

If you do decide to come, please get in touch with David Haas and mention that you saw this post on wetpixel!

Quick trip details (reproduced from the website david linked to above):

    Dear Divers,

2002 was a banner year for Great White shark photography as the Shark Diving

crew honed the techniques of attracting and keeping the sharks around for

days. With 64-70F blue water and 60'-100' of visibility there is no place

else in the world that can match Isla Guadalupe to see and photograph these

    beautiful animals

The sharks are there this time of year (Isla Guadalupe is 120 miles offshore

of the Baja penisula) attracted by big tuna, yellowtail and sea lions that

will appear when you're in the cage. This trip is the best opportunity to

watch the behaviour of these predators. Believe me it doesn't exactly get

boring when you're watching a 9'-14' shark and another sneaks around the

side of the cage and is right in your face! They're amazingly graceful and

    beautiful to watch.........

You can also fish, read, watch videos, sunbathe and generally relax if you

want to pass on one of the 1 hour rotations in the cage throughout the whole

day from dawn until sunset. If you have a still or video camera you can

focus on getting good surface shots, too, as there is lots of shark action

    "test biting" sea lion decoys.

I have reserved a one day longer trip, leaving from San Diego for the dates

of September 1-6, 2003. Cost is $2,495.00 from San Diego. Not included is

airfare, one to two nights rooms (approximately $35.00/night each person

when we double folks up) or crew tips. I can furnish actual recommended

arrival and departure dates if you email or call me.

There only 13 spots currently available. A $500.00 deposit payable to Haas

Photography Inc. secures your spot. Payments through the spring roughly

bi-monthly are required, and I can detail these if you call or email me.

As usual I offer my photographic help to any participant, or if you're a Pro

    I'll leave you alone icon_smile.gif

Email or call with any questions as I'm sure the spots will go fast.

  3. I already put a deposit down for a trip in mid October or I would go. For that price the extra day sounds like a good idea. I did some research and these trips to Guadeloupe sound like an excellent chance at some good shark action.

I previously did a trip to S. Australia and had great luck so I'm hopping raised expectations won't let me down.

  4. Dave has informed me that there are two spots left on this trip. Both Douglas Seifert and I will be on board, so if you want to meet Douglas,... sign up! :)

  5. I did this trip last year and it was great. We had sharks every day with up to 4 around the cages at a time. The majority of the sharks were 10-12 feet but we did get one 16-17 foot that raised hell with our cage for a few hours
