DS 125 : practicing at home

2 posts
  1. Hi,

I purchased my G2/Ike housing/DS 125 combo last week, and I practiced a lto the week-end at home.

Everthing seems OK as the TTL works fine. Actually, the flash exposure is MUCH better with this DS 125 external strobe than with the G2 internal one.

The only concern I have is the angle of coverage. When I shoot at let say 50cm or so, I can see the circle of light on the subject. Is it normal ? Should it be avoided underwater because of light diffusion in the water?

    Thanks a lot.

  2. Hi Ben,

The angle of coverage of that strobe is somewhere around 100 degrees (if memory serves). So it is pretty wide. It sounds to me like you are either seeing light faloff or the strobe is actually too close to your subject and isn't getting time to spread. If it's the first one, try adding the diffuser and reshoot. If the latter, then move the strobe back a bit.

You won't see this affect as much underwater and especially when there is more available light.
