PAL & NTSC From HDV

  1. Here are two wmv files.

I encoded out a PAL 50i & NTSC 60i m2t file from a PAL 50i HDV timline then encoded both files to wmv.

Not bad I recon, just another example of what Edius can do. Perfect for encoding out PAL/NTSC day DVD's

    Around 4 megs each.

    Pal

    NTSC

  2. Is it me? or is Pal much sharper here?

  3. Yes PAL is sharper, but for knocking out day DVD's of both formats it would be fine I recond and very easy.

  4. The PAL will always look sharper as the software had to come up with another 9.94 i-frames interpolated. Whereas if you shoot 60i and convert to 50i, you retain image sharpness but many times get funky motion since you're removing 4.97 frames.

Still as Wags says, it's a lot cheaper than a Snell/Wilcox.
