PHOTOSHOP CS2/Bridge - THE SAGA CONTINUES

  1. Thanks for all your help and interest, i now have the full use of the RAW Convertor with my NIKON D200.

Another issue has arisen, when i go to Browse the Bridge uploads with no problems, however the Thumbnails are in NEF Files so i cannot view the images in thumbnails.

Once i open the image carry out some workand then close, that particular image is viewable in thumbnails, but the untouched ones are not.

Please note all images are in RAW.

The question is - How can i view all the images in thumbnails ?

I await you response with baited breath!!

    Regards

  2. Make sure that you have downloaded and installed all of the updates for PS. These can be found under "help -> updates" (I think, I don't have it in front of me). I had the same problem before, but it worked after the updates.

  3. ya, had a friend with a similar issue. the raw images that were on there before he had the right raw converter would not show up as thumbnails. the ones he downloaded after would show as thumbnails... very strange.

hopefully the updates mark mentions will work

  4. If I am right in thinking that you originally viewed the relevant folders prior to installing the updated Raw convertor neede to open the Raw files, then I think your problem might be that the folder(s) cache(s) needs updating. I suspect that Bridge is reading the existing cache (produced when Bridge first 'looked' at them), and this only updates anything you as amend it (ie open and work on). Try updating the cache(s) for the relevant folder(s) and this should produce all the thumbnails.

  5. What Paul said.

Tools -> Cache -> Purge Cache for This Folder

Then wait for the thumbnails to be regenerated. If you don't have much RAM, this may take quite a while. While its churning you'll see (Getting "blah1234.NEF" preview) at the bottom left of the main Bridge window, next to the "N items, n selected" bit.

Good luck, all of this should work once you have the latest versions of the the Bridge and Camera Raw components.

  6. Alternatively (having just had PS2 refuse to update a cache and not wanting to tie up my computer) if you want to force an update to a single image, right click on it and click 'camera raw defaults'. This seems to kick it into re-examining the file and creating a new (default) bridge image!

  7. Re last post - this was caused by XMP files not being copied into a new location or possibly corrupting. No reason except at one warning of a disk error when copying a cache later on (worrying)!
