Info on Hugyfot and Sea&Sea housing needed

  1. Fellow divers,

This is my first thread in this forum. So I would like first of all to say hello to all of you.

I am looking into getting a UW housing for my Canon 350D (RebelXT). I want to use my EFS 10-22 and my EFS 60 Macro.

I would like to know your experience regarding two housings: The Hugyfot and Sea&Sea.

My main points of concern are:

    - Use of TTL - can I use TTL with any of these housings? And which strobe would I have to use?

    - Size - Are these housings substantially smaller than the ikelite? What about Hugyfot vs Sea&Sea?

    - Leakage - I heard that Hugyfot has a screws system that makes leakages easier to happen than with Sea&Sea and Ikelite

    - Ease of use UW. Can you change aperture and shutter speed easily? Any specific controls not possible to use that I should be aware?

    - Ports: Does Hugyfot and Sea&Sea have ports for these two lenses?

Any info would be highly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    Kind Regards

  2. TTL is possible with either housing. The Sea & Sea housing requires the Sea & Sea Canon TTL Converter, and the Hugy housing requires the Heinrichs option to be installed (either by Hugyfot or your dealer).

I took the following pictures for another customer, and will share them here to. Compared is a Hugy for Canon XT, Sea & Sea housing for D50 (same size as Rebel xt), and Ikelite SLR DC Case.

Dr. Mustard has observed some Hugyfot leaks, but we haven't had any reported by our customers.

The Hugyfot housing has by far the best command wheel access. Personally, the housing feels to small when I hold my hand on the grip, and the handle is placed farther away than I'd like. I would use a ULCS Subal tray and AC-H handles with the housing. Someone with tiny hands will likely find that gripping the housing is perfect.

All three companies have ports to accomodate your lenses.
