I am trying to decide where to reserve next October 2007. I like the Aggressor liveaboard and Tahiti or Cocos are in missing list. Can anyone give me a hand?, thanks.

Cocos or Tahiti

We just did Cocos but the closest we have gotten to Tahiti is Fiji. For Fiji we went with Aggressor but for Cocos we went with the Undersea Hunter. They are totally different experiences (Given Fiji and Tahiti are similar). Cocos is all about the sharks very little else to see, thermo clines in the 65degree range, 36 hr trip (can be rough) to the site and a little more advanced diving. But once there WOW, WOW, WOW! (if you like sharks)
Fiji was great but the other end of the spectrum. Warm, easy diving, all about the soft corals and reef critters. We had passing experiences with sharks on every other dive and a shark dive to finish the trip but its all about the bommies and reefs.
We like Aggressor and have used them in Hawaii, Fiji and will go out with them in Dec in Belize. For Cocos we wanted 10days on site and only Undersea Hunter offers this. If you want more details check out my site.

Cocos is coldish diving with sharks and has to be liveaboard (mv.Seahunter is easily the best vessel there.) If you go to French Polynesia, I would suggest you need to be on a Tuamotos trip but the Tahiti Aggressor has moved some of the time to the Society Islands which are fun, but not so high voltage. If you want to see big sharks in Fiji, you need to be with Benqa Adventure Divers.

Hello
We were in September to coco with the okeanos aggressor .
It was a magnificient trip ..
So many sharks..hammerheads , silvertips , whitetips by tons ..
And everywere marblerays ..and also some mantas .
And so huge schools of fish.
The dives were very well organised , the boat is very confortable , the crew very friendly .
We did a ten night trip .
In 2002 , we went to Tahiti , and the tuamotus , nothing to say we did not like there .
And I'm french so I should prefer Tahiti ..Is not it ??? Everything is there extremely expensive !!

I went to tahiti when I was a young sprog and while I have great memories of snorkelling there (was too young to dive at the time) I do recall my parents commenting on the high cost of everything.
I think Cocos would definitly be higher impact diving, but Tahiti would be more of a relaxing holiday... what with the nice quiet atoll waters instead of the high seas.
