Inon Z-240 and E-TTL

  1. Just got a pair of Z-240's to replace my Z-220's (which my bro-in-law will be taking off my hands), and I just want to confirm that I won't be able to use TTL with the Z-240's (with my Canon 1Ds MkII in Seacam housing), and will need to continue shooting fully manual, just as I did with the Z-220's, right?

I "read" both Z-240 intruction manuals (not the same as "understood" - Inon has about the most confusing manuals I've ever come across), and they seem to be saying that the strobes only work in Manual mode with Canon cameras, but I just want to make sure (as much as I like shooting full Manual, I occasionally long for the simplicity of TTL when shooting macro...).

    Can anybody confirm/deny?

  2. By default you'd have to shoot manual yes, but it would take rocket science to rig up s TTL system for a pair of Z220 or Z240 strobes.

You could get a Sea&Sea TTL converter adapted to take a S6 plug, then get a S6 bulkhead installed on your housing. That way you could choose manual or TTL on the fly if you'd attached the converter, or just go for full manual using the other N5 housing bulkhead and a Y lead.
