Does anyone have this camera with the underwater housing? I like it because it is compact, but I'm not sure of it's performance.

I think the IXUS 300 = The S300 here in the states, right? If so, here is a gallery of shots taken with the S300 underwater that I found. As a side note - I have the S100 myself (= original IXUS) and have been trying to find information on using it underwater as well.

Hello Lisa,
we used the Canon Ixus 300 for almost 6 months underwater using the Canon underwaterhousing. It was our first experience with underwater fotography and we liked it, also the camera. First we used our divinglights, later we used a DS50 from Ikelite with remote sensor.
Min:
- No handsetting like Aperture.
- Not always sharp where you want it.
Plus:
- Compact !! Absolute.
- Great quality lens.
These are just a few point. You can look at our site, all pictures in 2001 where made with the Canon Ixus 300. In 2002 we started to make pictures using a Canon G2, see the difference.
Most of the pictures are made in Holland. No blue water or bright colours!!

You will see underwater pictures from the island Lanzarote and picture form Holland.

hey lisa...this might be a bit late but i just came back from a weekend trip and i was able to try the canon s300 with the underwater casing for the 1st time...i havent dloaded the pix in this comp but i will do it soon..if u wanna see the pix i would gladly upload it somewhere here in the net..
btw i think that the camera is good enough for me with a little practice maybe i could do better...flash isnt really that great coz u really have to move close...i did just one dive and i wasnt able to bring down a dive light coz i was concentrating on this new toy...hopefully on the next dive i could take better pictures.
