  1. I get asked to build DIY lens gears regulary.

There are easy to make and cost pounds.

I used a company called Muffet gears.

they offer a huge range of nylon gears that can be modified to fit your housing. The teeth are the same anbd the OD's are then same oas nearly all cam gears.

    The molded gears work perfectly..

You will first have to count the teeth, and measure the OD of your gear...Then work ou the size of the gear.

There is info and charts on the site to see what size of gear you have.

There are many other companies at make gears near you. No need to get ripped off anymore!

  2. Just out of interest I contacted the company and enquired.

I measured up a Sea & Sea gear I currently have and tried to see if they could match it just for the number of teeth and the OD. They had nothing close to it and someting similar would need to be custom made. A guide price was £150.

This price is a non starter for me. For a low cost option I am much more impressed with a recent post submitted by Stefin using bits of plastic pipe and velcro.

    Sorry

  3. Thanks, its well deserves a look.

Can you post some images of your work with it?

  4. Check your local vacuum store. I was able to use a belt for a sweeper and the teeth were perfect for my S&S housing. A little epoxy to glue it on and it worked great.
