Nikkor 70-180mm micro in a Subal?

7 posts
  1. I've just dug out a pristine Nikkor 70-180mm Micro lens from my cupboard. (Lucky Me)

I know some of you out there are using these lenses for macro work and was wondering how you .....

1)Configure the ports, ie 60 or 105 flat port extension ring sizes etc

    2) Can you achieve manual focus switching plus focusing plus zoom

    3) Is it nessaccary to remove the tripod support ring

    I use a Nikon D70s in a Subal housing and already own / use 60mm 105mm 10.5mm and 12-24mm lenses

my macro port is a manual focus 60mm I use an extension ring with it for the 105.

    Thanks guys

  2. I use the subal FP70180. with that u can manual and autofocus and zoom. there is a switch to change between aoutofocus and manual focus. you neeed the take away the tripod ring.

  3. you neeed the take away the tripod ring.

  4. I removed my ring off(from Nikkor 200mm) by Nikon service center with fee. I understand Underwater Photo-Tech also, remove it with fee around $100.-

  5. Yes, Subal lists it as compatible. Here is what you need:

    Port:

    FP-120 + EXR66 or

    FP-FC105 + EXR66 or

    FP-FC70180

    Zoom gear:

    4ZN022 or

    4ZN722 (Subal ND70)

    Focus gear:

    4FN718F incl. gear

Nikon did it for free. don't try to do it yourself.

  7. I'll drop into Nikon in Kingston after the Holiday break and ask them very nicely if they can do the ring thing for me.

Next job will be to get the port configuration sorted out and bought

Thankyou all for your replies and help on this one guys

Happy new year to you all :D
