I took this shot with the Coolpix 990 and a single SB105 strobe. Not bad for a consumer digicam w/ a 35mm lens (in my opinion of course). Shot could definitely be improved...suggestions?

I experimented with different strobe settings and found out I was getting great exposures using TTL! Surprisingly, it wasn't blowing out the fish.

James,
Is everything supposed to be that blue (artistic license)? I'm just wondering so I can learn myself.
When shooting a reflective fish like a Tarpon, you can't use much strobe. This photo was taken at 60' so not much available light - except blue...
Auto white balance.
No color correction.
Cheers

Nice shot!
2 points:
- The tail of the close fish is cut off.
- There are backscatters - try to take the shot in a clearest water B)
try to take the shot in a clearest water
Hey Alto, sorry I had to laff at this.
I know its not UK diving buy next time you are in the UK let me know & I'll show you what clear water is ALL about.
Clear as mud springs to mind..... LOL Something we have to live with over here.....

Hmmmm, diving in the UK. I don't about alto, but somehow having to carry all my kit and camera stuff on a business trip to dive in a mud hole is less than appealing. I can get cold murky silty water just driving to my LOCAL mud hole.
Tom,
When I get my new Titan setup wet I will post some pics & show what you are missing.
Actually, a buddy almost had me convinced to go to Stoney this weekend (I was in Windsor on business), but I had no kit, and had to get home.
I'm sure I'm missing a lot!! I know the pics I took at Dutch Springs (the local equivalent) were pretty stunning, especially since they were my first attempt with my first UW camera.
Hi Mark
You can always take the fish into your bath and shot him there
