Hello
The plan has been set to upgrade to a SLR UW housing. As I own (almost 1yr) a D200 it seems logical to get a housing which will be a Hugyfot. From the lenses I own, those usable UW are Sigma 17-70 and Nikon 105VR
. So it seem logical to get a port for those lenses.
An e-mail from Hugyfot stated on the Sigma : "The Sigma 17-70 has the same dimensions as the Nikon 18-70. Because the Sigma has stronger Macro specifications (for the same wide range) they opt for the same port as for the Nikon 18-70 = Hugyfot WAP-6290. This wideangle-port has a flat surface. The macro-function from the Sigma needs a flat port surface" As far e-mail from Hugyfot.
The Sigma and Nikon catalog gives following dimensions
- Sigma 17-70 diam 79 x length 82,5 mm
- Nikon 18-70 diam 73 x length 75,5 mm
You certainly notice the diferences
. Therefore 2 questions.
Are there ports in which the Sigma 17-70 fits (& gearring) ?
And don't I need a 'dome' port (instead of a flat) for the wideangle ? the 17-70 is not realy a macro lens (> as the 105).
My intention is to have a 'standard', all purpose lens for occasional close-up use.
For real macro I rather use the 105.
If answers for this question(s) are not satisfying then the next choice would be (to buy <_< ) a Sigma 10-20 for the wideangle shots, and pass on the close-ups
.
Thx for the reply(s)
Jean Paul
