  1. Hi folks !

    I haven't been here for a while ..

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you

we have a project to produce two small booklets on shallow water decapods and stomatopods of Central America, one for the Pacific side, and one for the Caribbean side

the books are supposed to cover mostly shallow waters from the intertidal to about 20 m, from Belize/Mexico to Panama, it will be used mostly by marine biology students, beach walkers, naturalists, and of course, by snorkellers and divers .. it will be also quite useful outside the area, for example in the eastern Caribbean or Florida

we will include species that are common, but also species that are not not often photographed, e.g., absent from other guides (Sterrer, Humann & Deloach, Kerstitch, Hickman & Zimmerman)

we already have many pictures that we will use in these guides, however, several groups, including some large and conspicuous (+ relatively common) species are clearly underrepresented, because we were concentrating on cryptic fauna from under rocks, rock crevices, seagrass and burrows

if some of you would like to contribute with his/her/their photos PLEASE LET ME KNOW:

we are currently working on a preliminary list of species or genera for which we would need HABITUS PHOTOS, both IN SITU or AQUARIUM/LAB shots, and PREFERRABLY from the following locations:

    GULF OF CALIFORNIA

    LAS PERLAS

    Trachycaris spp

    Peppermint shrimps (Lysmata spp)

    Cinetorhynchus manningi
