I have a Nikon 105mm VR lens that I have been waiting to house for my D70 Ikelite housing and a trip planned for May-June. Are there any plans to develop a AF/MF port for this lens?
I am aware of the #5505.46 AF only port for this lens. At one point there were even hints that a macro port was in the works for the 8" dome port system. I realize that the large diameter of this lens probably means a completely new port design. I hesitate to ask what a custom port like this would cost. With nearly all housing designers selling or developing a MF/AF port for this lens I can't be the only one who wants it on Ikelite.
Are either of those in the cards for this spring?

Not likely as this lens is a monster diameter wise....No room for a manual focus ring / control.......
I thought Alex Mustard, the God of Nikon UW shooting was using his on AF most of the time anway, no?
Practice, practice, practice.....Lock AF as close as you need on an immovable object, hold trigger, and fine tune focus moving your body in and out....

I had almost the same experience with my 105 VR in the Ike 5505.46 port
Put the port on and went diving.. Lens is so wide the when I put the port on it turned the AF switch to Manual.. A few minuets into the dive I realized what happened and I focused by moving on and out until I was in sharp focus,, Not bad results for what I was doing.. Now whenever i use the lens and port I make sure that I am in AF.
