2007 Shark / Dolphin Expedition

  1. Last 3 spots for my 2007 Shark / Dolphin Expedition.

    Details:

If you have drooled over images sent previously from this year's Shark and Dolphin Expeditions here is your chance to make your diving adventure dreams come true in 2007 ;)

    August 13 - 19, 2007.

The trip encompasses arguably the most exciting shark diving you'll ever do. We get you as close, for as long as safely as possible to Caribbean Reef, Lemon, and of course Tiger Sharks for incredible viewing and photographic opportunities. Even the simplest camera system can produce results that will astound your friends and family.

We also visit remote Bahamian reefs and snorkel with wild Atlantic Spotted dolphins We will also spend time looking for another beautiful animal of the sea, the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin, Stenella Frontalis.

Snorkeling with these animals over powder white sand is an experience to be relished, plus night snorkeling in the Gulf Stream over 1000+ of water, very surreal!!! Occasionally Bottlenose dolphins appear, too. We have spent anywhere from minutes to several hours depending on the animal's mood. They are wild animals after all!

This is all packed into 5 days of adventure and truly incredible diving. Additionally we regularly night dive with Loggerhead turtles, octopus, squid and more....All in a relaxed unregimented fashion catering to the group's wishes.

The M/V Shearwater leaves and returns to West Palm Beach, FL making travel to the departure point fairly easy. It is a "family" type atmosphere, with no fashion shows on board....T-shirts, shorts and swim suits are about all you need, plus a sense of fun and adventure! Soap and shampoo in the two roomy heads (bathrooms for you land lubbers  and plenty of food to keep you energized and much much more.

    What's included:

    * Five (5) days of diving plus all meals, towels and bedding, unlimited diving.

    * Bait and special logistical support for shark diving.

    * FREE photo advice from Jimmy Abernethy, David Haas plus super experienced crew members who are great photographers!

    Not included:

    * Airfare and transfers (we usually try and coordinate arrivals at PBI, Palm Beach Int'l airport for cab ride sharing)

    * Crew tip, booze and any items of a personal nature

    * NITROX if desired. ($100.00 / week)

    * Bahamian Departure Taxes (currently $50.00 per person but subject to change)

I will limit this trip to only 9 divers plus myself, making for a bit more room on the boat, especially for photographers.

Trip cost: $2,500.00 per person from West Palm Beach.

Deposit needed to secure a space as of January 31, 2007 is $1,200.00 per spot. Checks should be payable to: HAAS PHOTOGRAPHY INC.

Don't miss out on some great adventure in the Bahamas! This trip couldn't be easier and offers unbelievable critter viewing! Don't miss this chance to go do some incredible diving in 2007.

  2. As I mentioned in a post in the recent thread for Wetpixel's shark and dolphin trip, I've been on Shearwater two different times -- once with Eric and the Wetpixel gang AND once with with David Haas, and both of them organized great trips! This year, I'm going on one of the two Wetpixel charters, but I would have loved to go with David, too -- scheduling just worked out better for me to go in July, and I couldn't really afford to go on both! ;)

I've been diving all over the world, and it really is amazing to me that such a mind-blowing experience is available so "close to home" -- without requiring any flights to foreign countries (the boat leaves from West Palm Beach)!

You can see photos from both of my previous trips HERE.

  3. Bruce,

Thanks for the kind words, and as you state this is one high voltage trip!!!

We'll miss you but will ogle your images surely to be posted on your web site before our adventure begins.

Then we can "go to school" on your images ;)

    Or try "different" techniques LOL......

    Best regards,

    David Haas

  6. Bruce,

Hilarious  But do clients start looking around for the door if your phone rings?

Plus a Great White would be more appropriate!

Only one guy I know has photos from the Bahamas of a Great White, underwater.....And it was on the Shearwater a couple years ago!
