Diver fights his way out of great white shark

  1. Wow! ;) One never likes to hear about shark attacks, but this is quite a story!

"It was black. He didn't see it coming, but he felt the bite and then started getting shaken, and that's when he knew he was in the mouth of the shark," said local diver Michael M.

The shark bit N. around the head first, crushing his face mask and breaking his nose, fellow diver and friend Dennis L. told Reuters.

"He was actually bitten by the head...the shark swallowed his head," said L., adding a second bite by the shark saw it clench its jaw around N's torso.

"The brunt of the bite was taken by his lead-weight vest. Its all over your torso. E. said to me at the wharf that his weight vest saved him," he said.

    N. fought frantically to free himself from the shark's jaws and was eventually pulled back aboard his boat by his son.

"He pushed his abalone chisel into its head while it was biting and it let him go and swam away," said L.

Great job for fighting his way out.... Shame he didn't have a camera in there!

Freaky stuff being inside the mouth of a great white. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Guys,

I'm no expert but a 3mt shark fitting a 40yr old bloke in diving gear, straight down the 'cake-hole' seems a tad adventurous. Even more amazing was the diver's ability to poke the shark in the eye with his abalone chisel while his torso was still head first into its stomach...

Locally down here in Victoria, we currently have a reported 6mt white just cruising the local holiday sites at Phillip Island...Local rangers have asked the local police to carry rifles to protect the swimming public from this lawfully protected, "monster"...

    News at seven... :excl:
