It claims 1000 fps at HD resolution, and even though "HD" could mean 480p or 720p, it looks really impressive.
So you got one? Oh goodie... bring it to Indo, we can green screen you doing flips and some surfing stuff. I knew you couldn't resist a bling camera like that.
That was cool.
Whats the price on one of them?
I browsed thru the web after I saw the slomo in "planet earth" of the great white jumping out of the water during hunting. 2 seconds time shown as 40 seconds. The camera looked like a motion xtra from redlake. I think that one had 1024 vertical lines.
The effect was great and the resolution in 1080i broadcasted left nothing to be desired.
I quickly realized prices are unworthy of discussion for me for non commercial personal use for filling your footage with a few seconds of great slomo
You've got an idea of Phantom's max. recording time with 1000 fps?
Maybe you have to house a laptop too in order to empty camera's storage

Those slomo whale shots were brilliant. I think you might need to house a mainframe for that camera. I believe it was continuously recording onto the computer. They rigged up a "bell push" to press as the whale surfaced. The computer then "saved" several seconds of video before as well as after the push. I think they said it took half an hour of computer processing time before they could take the next shot!
The results were truly amazing.

Well Julian
Underwater with the exception of maybe a frogfish or cuttlefish strike, there isn't really a need for anything that 1000fps would bring. 150fps is good enough for most things (dolphin attacking baitball, sailfish chomping on fish etc). Also they used a different camera for that sequence. It's not really HD but uprezzed. The system is used for car crashes etc. It's relatively cheaper than the Phantom HD.
I mean if you look at the shark breach shots, the superslomo actually allows the view to see that it's a dummy decoy seal and not the real thing. And they showed various takes in different Planet Earth episodes. Kinda monotonous once the dummy seal is shown, imo.
