Since I covered up/Blocked off my internal strobe housing wndow,
will the new S&S YS-110 strobe's DS-TTL work if I:
1. set my digicam's internal flash output to the lowest setting
2. non of the internal flash's light will be seen by the digicam
3. only the light from the YS-110 will be seen
Thanks for any replies,
Charlie Eng
You don't set the digicam flash to the lowest setting, for using S-TTL. You let it think it is seeing a preflash and regular flash, even though you are actually blocking it's own flash, and substituting in the slave flash.
Weather it works, really just depends on the camera, housing, and optical cable link.
I could NOT get it to work with a Sony V3, but it does seem to work with several other Sony's.
The answer is 'No, the vast majority of YS-110 strobes do not have functional optical slave TTL mode.'
Major retailers have given up, trying to get them to work.
Better off sticking with Inon, if that is what you want, or the heinrich optical slave with any good strobe, such as Ike DS...
