I am very proud to announce that my girlfriend won her first underwater photography competition today - coming first in the January edition of the BSAC Travel club competition - Newcomers category.
Her picture was taken in the Cayman Islands in December with her Nikon D80, 16mm, Ikelite housing and one of those Magic filters:
Wetpixel members Millionfish and Alsky72 came first and third, respectively, in the Open category.

Well done !! Did she get a discount on the magic filter ?
Very nice shot, and congrats to her on the win!
Hmmm...I thought those Magic filters brought out more color than that, though...
Of course not, Alex. Actually it was my lens - so I guess it was my filter!
It was David Haas who got me using the Magic Filter for Black and Whites. I still prefer a wratten 21 orange filter for dedicated black and white - the Magic filter also allows you to shoot colour shots on the same dive.

No discount even for your girlfriend... wow.. what a tough businessman you are
Congrats to her
but he he he he
i am assuming she won't be entering the open category anytime soon .. just to save herself from winning your book !!
Hahaha
She's glad too.
I think that Martin's book is excellent - apart from the Chapter I wrote!

So she has to pay for her Mustard magic??
I was going to come up with a joke about Alex's special mustard but i won't bother..
Also well done to our very own Steve Jones for winning the open catagory with his tremendous Whaleshark pic...

I'm just pleased I have a girlfriend whose eyesight is good enough to take underwater photos, but not so good that she'll consider going out with me!

Dean, you are a sick man i was merely quoting an article in UWP about Magic Filters...
Yes, Congratulations to all wetpixelites who placed highly.
I thought this was a bit naughty though:
BSAC reserves the right to publish and use the photos for an indefinite period anywhere on its websites or in respect of promotion of the BSAC Travel Club or this Photographic Award, but always with due credit to the photographer.
I know its only a small organisation, but still - indefinitely...
