  1. Hi I'm new to the forum and to UW photography.

Just bought a Sony DSC W7 and UW case and would like to know waht are the best settings to use on a digital camera when snorkeling / shallow diving. travelling to the Red Sea next week.

Have got a magenta filter with the UW case.

    Any feedback appreciated

    Regards

  2. Welcome to Wetpixel!

Leave the camera on automatic. Turn the flash off. If you use a filter, you will probably need to use - 1/3 to - 2/3 exposure compensation. I highly recommend the Magic Filter.

If the camera has aperture priority, use the smallest aperture (highest f/ stop number) that still gives you 1/60 second or faster.

  3. actually i would suggest putting the camera on P mode if indeed your camera has that function. Desert Eagle has a good suggestion with using negative exposure compensation, i would even go so far as -1.
