  1. Just passing some time while I suck in some more footage.

Talked about it before but using the neat little DV capture program that comes with EDIUS, I have my TRV900 and HDV A1 sucking in two 4.3 tapes at the same time. Real timesaver. :D

Next we have allot of 4.3 material, well mixing it with 16.9 DV is real easy now. Place the 4.3 clip on the 16.9 timeline, hit F7 and set it to full width and then just start editing all in real time. Amazing.

Here is two clips to compare, 4.3 before and after as 16.9.

You can even drop the 4.3 DV clip into the 1440/1080 timeline and do the same, again all in realtime although it's not up to the quality of HDV but it would be fine if you are going out to a normal DVD still.

  2. Yep, I have done the same thing in Vegas7, works realy well with underwater footage, no problem.

But if you use some very sharp topside footage, with lots of contrast, it is very clear that the resolution drops.

-but still, works great with underwater footage, so what more can a man wish for :D

Cheaper media for P2 so I don't have to consider tape anymore! :) P2 workflow is just so... instant!

You got me on that one :glare:
  5. Yes the 4.3 gets zoomed in abit but can use it still with sharp shots.

I suppose P2 is good but Drew what do you store the footage onto later on... tape or a slow 1 x HD DVD burner?

Today we opened up the cubboard and have started the huge task to put all our DV tapes onto SATA hardrives for easy access for the future projects...you don't want to know how many tapes we have. :D

Should get about 35 + tapes on a 500 GIG drive, even better when the 1T drives come out.

Will build a SATA tower later on to put them all in.

I recon I must hold the record for filming Whale Sharks while free diving more than anyone in the world, will load up some classic shots later on.

Here is Chompy again, now what did that?

Looks good Wags..Loved the multi format straight to timeline feature and the Time-mapping, colour correction..Blah blah. All for under £400

Pity we had a few too many after, canny remember much... 'Hic' :):(

Its a very long 'hours' journey on the bus back to hicksville when you need to get rid of 5-6pints of 'tramps piss' swilling round in the old bladder :D

Good to actually meet Simon in the flesh.. Nice bloke... And good luck to him on his film entry ino this years British underwater image festival.

    Dive safe

You have a great choice of storage. DAT tape, server or DVD. Archiving using Sheer Video codec is also an option. With TB servers being so cheap (always recycle your computer parts! :D) it's wonderful to work with. And with AVC Intra coming, life is getting more interesting.
