I bought a old Aquatica A 80 housing on e-bay. Even though it's old it's brand new. I'm using bits and pieces off the housing for my own D2X housing I made. My question is, does anyone know why the view finder doesn't work ? I've tried using diopters of different powers behind it with out any luck. If anyone knows why it won't work properly I'd certainly appreciate a reply.

Mark,
Those "old" Aquatica viewfinders (designed I think with input by Howard Hall and Bob Cranston) required an optical eyepiece on the camera that complimented the underwater housing mounted optic.
More than one friend lost his, arriving on a dream dive trip, or forgot to install it and swam around underwater trying to frame through a blur
It replaced the screw in "protector" rubber eyecup on Nikon N8008(s) and N90(s) cameras.
You might try calling or emailing Aquatica.......

Hi Mark,
I'd love to see some pictures of your housing, is it made from Aluminium or plexiglass?
Cheers,
Simon
David is on the button, you need that eye piece optic, I doubt we have any, but i'll check when we are back from the Chicago show, meanwhile I suggest you contact whoever sold you the housing, they should have that thing included in the housing, especially if its supposed to be old but brand new. i'll catch up with you next week,
David are you going to the show, i'm sure i can find time for a beer or two.
Actually mark I made you an illustration, so you can send it to them for visual reference.
Marc,
As Jean says, go bug the person who had the housing. They likely have it stuffed somewhere and have even forgotten what it is for....
Jean, unfortunately I will not be at OWU. Just too much going on right now
But I will hold you to the beer at a future meeting!
Have a good show....

Thanks Jean,
I'll try the seller, but if he doen't have it, I would appreciate if you could look around for one ?

P.S. My housing is made from PVC pipe.

The seller just informed me he never used the housing, he only took the housing out of the box to
photograph it for the auction.
Looks like I'm out of luck if I can't locate one ?

Worst come to worst, I will try and get you the dioptric strength, hope we still have it somewhere
Marc,
Helix in Chicago used to have a lot of older bits and pieces.
