VX2000 to FX7?

5 posts
  1. Hi All,

I currently have a VX2000 with gates housing. I'm considering upgrading to HD, and wondered if anyone you you lot have managed to get your hands on an FX7, and more importantly wondered if it would fit in the VX2000 housing (as a temporay measure)? The piccies on the web of the FX7 show it to be fairly similar in size and shape to the VX2000/PD150.

To be honest, I'm not expecting it to be able to fit, but it would be nice

    Thanks

    John

  2. Not having the FX7 with me anymore, I remember the viewfinder on that thing is HUGE and not easily removable unlike the VX2k. Also it's a little wider, slightly lower and shorter. You may want to email Gates for the dimensions the Gates can hold. Also optically, the lenses you use for the VX will probably not be useful for the FX, being wider and 1/4" sensor etc etc.

  3. Not sure how big the VX2000 viewfinder is, but the FX7 viewfinder very easily removable.

  4. Yeah Ron it is removeable but it still protrudes out the back as shown in your pic. Whereas the ol'VX was lower and much more flush.

  5. I guess even though the FX7 and VX2000 look similar, they are different enough that they can't use the same housing. Why else would it take Amphibico and Gates 4+ months to release FX7 housings ?

Hopefully it will be worth the wait and the housings will have a few things beyond the typical features. Flip diopter and flip filter would be nice, hint hint Gates if you are reading.
