Hi Matt,
I dunno much about jawfish - but there are a couple species I see fairly regularly in SE Asia - which I have just listed as Opistognatus sp.
But hopefully someone can do better than that.
Alex
Even the Kutier Debelius fish Atlas only shows a few species. And comments that there are many undescribed species.
Opistognathus dendriticus is the closest match I can find.
Opistognathus dendriticus is much too large, and more aggressive from what I can gather.
The closest match I could find was a female 'Variable Jawfish (Opistoganthus sp.)' from the Allen/Steen/et al Tropical Pacific Reef Fish ID book... but that's not much of an ID at all :glare: ...hence why I need help ![]()
