Can anyone help with an ID on this one. For ages I have often just put all reasonably sizeable Indo-Pacifc cuttlefish down as Sepia latimanus - which I suspect is wrong! Often assuming that if they were smaller than adult S. latimanus then they must just be youngsters.
Anyway this pair that were only about 6 inches long (15cm) are mating so I guess that they must be another species. So I have to ID these correctly!
Any help would be appreciated. I don't have a cephalopod ID book.

I do and I couldn't match your images to anything but latimanus. On the other hand the book doesn't include all known species. Why don't you send them off to Mark Norman who's at the University of Melbourne and Museum Victoria?
