Nexus WP-3... What lens is it for?!?

3 posts
  1. Hello all,

I just got hold of a Nexus WP-3 Port, and i am curious as to what lens it was for, its an old port i think from the film era, but i cant find any info on it anywhere, does anyone have experience of this port?

    Thanks in advance

    Simon

  2. Hi Simon. the Nexus WP-3 is from the film era. It was made for lenses 20mm and narrower used with Nikon SLRs. It can be used for newer lenses if it is combined with a proper port extension and if the lenses are internal focusing and do not change length when zoomed. And if the newer lenses will fit through the adjustable collar inside the WP-3 - a problem if the lens fronts are 77mm in diameter. Just keep in mind if the lenses cover more than 20mm equivalent in a film camera ithey will vignette with the WP-3. All in all it has limted application with D-SLRs and ns

  3. Thanks Woody, this one might have to go to eBay!! I'm thinking of trying a 10.5mm or a 16mm on a teleconverter behind it as it is a nice small port, but i cant see it working!!
