Sea Shepard Abandons Pursuit of Whalers

  1. The Farley Mowat and Robert Hunter have abandoned chasing the japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru due to the Farley Mowat's low fuel. With last week's problem of 2 crewmen being lost(and found) at sea, the commitment of the crew of both ships are commendable for their efforts for their cause, if not their methods.

The Farley Mowat has more than just fuel problems as the ship was deregistered in Belize last year and is considered a "pirate vessel." It is now steaming toward Melbourne for fuel but it may not be allowed to leave due to the registration problem.

  2. Amd in related news, the Nisshin Maru caught fire yesterday. It sounds like one of the crew members might have died which is sad, but hopefully it might hamper their abilities to continue whaling this year. The fire was on the factory ship.
